Rules and Regulations

There shall be 21 papers in total which is spread over four Semesters. Each paper shall carry 100 marks.  Out of 21 papers, 15 papers are theory and six papers are practical.

  • The theory papers shall be divided into units. Each unit normally shall have two parts
  • Usually there shall be one question from Part-I carrying marks allotted to the unit. The alternative question for the same shall be from Part-2 of the same unit. The student shall be required to answer one out of the two.
  • In the units where there is no division into parts there shall be one question carrying the marks allotted to the unit. There shall be an alternative question to it. Both the questions shall be based on the subject matter of the unit. The student shall be required to answer one out of the two.

Practical
There shall be six practical papers each carrying 100 marks. 20 marks in each paper shall be reserved for internal assessment. The internal assessment shall be done on the basis of maintenance of practical record and regularity of attendance, etc. There shall be no writing assignment in practical examinations. The student shall be required to perform the posture etc. physically and shall be asked verbal questions related to the Asanas and Pranayamas etc. prescribed in the syllabus. Submissions of Practical Records for each Practical paper are mandatory and cannot be relaxed in any manner. The question in the viva voce of practical shall be strictly confined to the technique, the benefit and the contraindications of the prescribed postures etc. There shall be no question from outside the prescribed syllabus of the concerned paper.

Examination Duration and Period
Examination of each theory paper shall be of 4 hours’ duration. The duration of practical examinations shall be according to requirement. A candidate admitted to the course shall complete the course within two academic years from the date of admission. Every Semester will normally be conducted at a gap of six months.

Percentage of Marks for Pass/Division
Necessary division shall be awarded taking into account the total aggregate marks secured in all four Semesters.

  • Securing 60% or more marks -  First Class
  • b. Securing 50% or more marks and - Second Class less than 60% in aggregate
  • c. Securing 36% or more marks and - Third Class And less than 50% in aggregate

 

Back/Repeat Appearance/No. of Chances
A candidate who fails in any theory paper/papers in a particular semester examination may appear the said paper/papers within the next two consecutive chances as back examination.

A candidate may repeat any paper/papers once only within two consecutive years for division improvement.
